| Obverse description | The obverse is dominated by a central intaglio vignette of the Monument to the Divine Savior of the World (El Salvador del Mundo) set within an arched frame with guilloche border work. The issuer's title, EL BANCO CENTRAL DE RESERVA DE EL SALVADOR, runs across the top, with the date and place of issue (SAN SALVADOR, 12 DE MAYO DE 1970) below. The denomination 100 COLONES appears in ornate lettering at the lower right, with the obligation text PAGARÁ EN EFECTIVO AL PORTADOR CIEN COLONES centered beneath the vignette, and serial number and series designations printed in red. |
