| 正面描述 | The obverse is printed in dark olive-green on a light guilloche underprint. A portrait vignette at left center shows a bust of a distinguished gentleman in 19th-century attire. The upper margin carries the overprinted legend of the Banco Central de Costa Rica above the original Banco Nacional de Costa Rica heading, with the notation 'DEPARTAMENTO EMISOR - SERIE PROVISIONAL'. The denomination '100' appears in large intaglio numerals to the right of the portrait, accompanied by the date, series letter, and serial number, with two facsimile signatures at the foot. |

| 备注 |
The American Bank Note Company produced this series during a period when Costa Rica's central bank was still finding its footing — the Banco Central had only been established in 1950, replacing the older Banco Nacional as the country's sole currency-issuing authority. This note belongs to the first generation of issues under that new institutional arrangement.
ABNC's intaglio work on Costa Rican paper from this period is generally clean, but the 100 Colones denomination circulated heavily and worn examples dramatically outnumber uncirculated survivors.
