| 背面描述 | The reverse displays the denomination numeral 100 in bold relief at the center, superimposed upon a stylised representation of the ECU ship motif — a square-rigged sailing vessel rendered in geometric, abstract form. The date 19 92 flanks the central motif at mid-field. The word CENTECU curves prominently along the lower arc in large lettering. A border of twelve stylised stars, representing the European Community, encircles the entire design, referencing the coin's ECU fantasy coinage theme. |

The "ECU" coinage issued by the Netherlands in the early 1990s occupied a peculiar space — neither legal tender in the conventional sense nor purely commemorative. The European Currency Unit itself was a basket currency, a weighted average of EEC member currencies, used primarily in interbank settlements and bond markets. The Dutch issued these pieces as collector items sold at a premium, exploiting public enthusiasm for European integration in the run-up to the Maastricht Treaty, signed in February 1992.
