Bolivia's chronic inflation of the mid-1980s forced a complete monetary redenomination in 1987, when the peso boliviano was replaced by the boliviano at a rate of 1,000,000 to 1 — one of the steeper conversion ratios in Latin American monetary history. This note entered circulation as part of that relaunch, a currency essentially built from scratch after years of hyperinflation that had peaked at over 20,000 percent annually in 1985.

The Series A through C designation indicates production runs spanning six years, a longer active print life than many comparable transitional issues. The printing figures listed — 20,000 in 1885 and 1886 — appear to reference an unrelated entry and should be verified against Banco Central records before quoting.
