The Banco Central de Venezuela was established in 1939, and this note — part of the bank's earliest issuing series — reflects the institution's immediate turn to the American Bank Note Company, the dominant supplier for Latin American central banks throughout the mid-twentieth century. ABNC's New York facility handled the entire production run, which spanned over two decades without significant redesign, an unusually long lifespan for a high-denomination note in a country experiencing the inflationary pressures that accompanied rapid oil-sector expansion.

The 22-year date range on P#34 masks meaningful variation in signature combinations across the series. Collectors distinguish issues primarily by the treasury and bank official pairings, with certain combinations considerably scarcer than others.
