Opmerkingen

Venezuela issued this commemorative 100 Bolívares in 1980 to mark the sesquicentennial of Simón Bolívar's death on December 17, 1830 — a date the Venezuelan state has long treated as a civic occasion of the first order. Thomas De La Rue handled the printing, as they had for much of the BCV's output during this period.

Pick 59 is distinct from the regular-issue 100 Bolívares series running concurrently, though the two are frequently conflated in collections. The commemorative designation affects catalogued value more than it affects scarcity — production figures were substantial, and circulated examples are common.
