The Hrvatska Banka 100 Banica belongs to a clutch of fantasy notes produced in 1990 as Croatia moved toward its declaration of independence — political currency before there was a political currency. The "banica" denomination name, drawn from the historical title of the Croatian ban (viceroy), never entered actual circulation. These notes were printed by Minks in Zagreb as a kind of provisional assertion of monetary identity, with no legal tender status behind them.
Collectors should be clear-eyed: this is a fantasy issue, not a provisional or emergency note with any redemption history.
