Obverse description The full Coat of Arms of the Republic of Panama occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing crossed swords and rifles, a cornucopia, a shovel and pick, and the Isthmus of Panama with ships on either side; the shield is surmounted by a harpy eagle with wings displayed and a scroll inscribed PRO MUNDI BENEFICIO, flanked by nine stars in arc above. The circumferential legend REPUBLICA DE PANAMA runs along the upper rim, separated by two bullet stops, while the denomination 100 BALBOAS arcs along the lower rim. The fineness statement 500/1000 ORO FINO appears in the lower field beneath the shield.
