The overprint distinction here reflects a change in the title of the Bank of Thailand's governor during the note's production run — a bureaucratic shift that created two catalogued varieties from otherwise identical printing plates. The overprinted Thai text below the upper signature was added to reflect updated official titles rather than a change in the signatory himself, a subtle but cataloguable difference that trips up generalist collectors who treat the two as interchangeable.
Thailand's own Note Printing Works, established in Bangkok, had by this period assumed full domestic production — ending the earlier reliance on foreign security printers for the kingdom's higher-denomination issues.
