Opmerkingen

Rama VIII — King Ananda Mahidol — died on 9 June 1946 under circumstances that were never conclusively resolved. The official finding was accidental discharge of his own pistol, but the case generated enormous political turbulence, and three palace attendants were eventually executed for alleged regicide. This note, printed in Boston, was authorized and issued in the months following his death, making it one of the few Thai currency issues to carry a monarch's portrait posthumously rather than as a reigning sovereign.

Tudor Press was an unusual choice for a national currency printer — primarily a commercial and securities printer rather than a specialist banknote house. The Series 8 designation distinguishes this American printing from contemporaneous Thai issues produced elsewhere.
