The Sociedade Numismática Paranaense, based in Curitiba, Paraná, issued this commemorative fantasy note to mark its 25th anniversary — a practice common among Latin American numismatic clubs that produce privately circulated exonumia as both collectibles and trading currency among members. The araucária, the Paraná pine, is the defining botanical emblem of the southern Brazilian state, and the denomination name draws directly from it rather than from any official monetary unit.

The designation "2nd Print" indicates a subsequent pressing was authorized after the initial run, likely due to demand from members who missed the first issue. Production quantities for both printings remain unpublished by the society.
