Beschrijving voorzijde The national coat of arms of Rwanda occupies the central field, featuring a traditional Rwandan basket, a knotted rope, sorghum and a coffee branch, with a sun above and the national motto on a scroll below. The arms are enclosed within a circular border. The legend BANKI NKURU Y'U RWANDA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination AMAFARANGA 100 IJANA is inscribed along the lower periphery. The design is rendered in a bold relief against a polished field.

Aanvullende informatie

Rwanda has no native giraffe population — the species does not occur within its borders — which makes this issue part of a broader trend of African nations licensing wildlife themes to bullion programs with little geographic connection to the subject. The National Bank of Rwanda has been an active participant in this market since the early 2010s, issuing collector bullion under agreements with European distributors, primarily the German firm B.H. Mayer's Kunstprägeanstalt, which has handled production for several of these series.

KM#174 is a one-troy-ounce fine gold piece in a program designed almost entirely for the secondary collector-bullion market rather than domestic circulation.
