Additional information

Rwanda's post-genocide monetary reconstruction moved quickly: the National Bank was reestablished under its Kinyarwanda name in 1995, and a new coinage program followed as part of broader efforts to stabilize an economy that had effectively collapsed during the 1994 killings. The 2007 bimetallic issue reflects that stabilization period, when Rwanda was experiencing some of the fastest GDP growth on the continent under Kagame's administration.
