Along the upper periphery, the Kazakh-language legend ҚАЗАҚСТАН ҰЛТТЫҚ БАНКІ (National Bank of Kazakhstan) is inscribed in Cyrillic script. At the lower rim, the denomination 100 000 and the currency name ТЕҢГЕ appear in bold relief, flanked at left by the fineness notation Au 999 and at right by the weight 2000 g. Two small ornamental rosette devices appear in the left and right fields. The overall design emphasizes the monumental scale and purity of the gold issue. |

Issued to mark the twentieth anniversary of the tenge, introduced in November 1993 when Kazakhstan replaced the Soviet ruble following independence. The tenge's launch was a logistical operation — notes had to be secretly printed abroad and distributed in a single coordinated day to prevent hoarding and speculation. At two kilograms of .999 gold, this piece is among the heaviest modern bullion commemoratives struck by any post-Soviet state, and was produced in extremely limited numbers by the Kazakhstan Mint in Ust-Kamenogorsk.
