Vorderseitenbeschreibung Intaglio portraits of Indonesia's founding fathers Dr. (H.C.) Ir. Soekarno (left) and Dr. (H.C.) Drs. Mohammad Hatta (right) occupy the central vignette against a fine guilloche underprint in red and pink tones, with a map of the Indonesian archipelago rendered in colour between them. The denomination numeral '100000' appears in large letterpress at upper left alongside the inscription 'SERATUS RIBU RUPIAH', while the Garuda Pancasila national emblem is printed at upper right with the legend 'NEGARA KESATUAN REPUBLIK INDONESIA' and emission year 'EMISI 2016'; two facsimile signatures of the Governor and Minister of Finance appear at lower left above their respective titles.

At centre, an intaglio figure of a Tari Topeng Betawi (Betawi Mask Dance) performer in full traditional costume is the dominant design element, with the inscription 'TARI TOPENG BETAWI' printed vertically alongside. The denomination '100000' and the issuer name 'BANK INDONESIA' appear in bold letterpress at lower right, with the full legal tender clause in Bahasa Indonesia at lower left.

Anmerkungen

Perum Peruri — the state security printing company — has produced Indonesia's banknotes domestically since the early 1970s, and the 100,000 Rupiah denomination anchoring the 2016 series reflects how far that operation has come. Color-shifting ink and a windowed security thread put this note broadly in line with contemporary international standards, a deliberate signal given the counterfeiting pressure high-value denominations face in large archipelagic economies with limited banking penetration in rural areas.

The 2016 series was also a politically coordinated redesign: the government mandated that all notes feature National Heroes drawn from diverse regions of the country, a policy decision driven more by national unity politics than by any printing or monetary consideration.
