| Rückseitenbeschreibung | The reverse presents a formal vignette of King Father Norodom Sihanouk, Queen Mother Norodom Monineath, and King Norodom Sihamoni rendered in a portrait composition, accompanied by a stone sculpture motif drawn from classical Khmer artistic heritage. The denomination value and the National Bank of Cambodia inscription are rendered in both Khmer script and Roman characters, with the year 2012 also appearing on the face. Guilloche border elements and the denomination numeral 100000 appear at left and right margins. |

| Anmerkungen |
Cambodia issued this commemorative 100,000 Riel note in 2012 to mark the 60th birthday of King Norodom Sihamoni, who ascended the throne in 2004 following his father Norodom Sihanouk's abdication. The denomination itself is notable — at the time of issue, 100,000 Riels equaled roughly $25 USD, making this a face-value instrument well above Cambodia's typical circulation notes but practical enough to actually spend.
A print run of just over 12 million puts this squarely in commemorative territory — substantial enough to satisfy collector demand without being a true circulating issue. The National Bank of Cambodia has issued several high-denomination commemoratives in this format, a pattern that began accelerating in the 2000s as the monarchy re-established its cultural prominence after the devastation of the Khmer Rouge period.
Sihamoni trained as a classical dancer and choreographer in Prague and Paris before his unlikely coronation.
