Andernach-Land was a rural administrative district surrounding the town of Andernach itself — a distinction that mattered in 1923, when municipal and communal treasuries across Germany scrambled to issue their own emergency currency as the Reichsbank's hyperinflationary spiral rendered official denominations obsolete almost the moment they were printed. The Gemeindekasse issued this note under the umbrella of the Städtische Sparkasse, a common arrangement that gave rural Bürgermeistereien access to established banking infrastructure without requiring separate authorization.
Carl Reinartz was a local Andernach printer, not a specialist banknote house — typical of Notgeld production at this scale, where speed and proximity outweighed security printing considerations entirely.
