100 000 Mark

Würzburg issued this note during the acute phase of the German hyperinflation, when municipal and commercial entities across the Reich were authorized to produce Notgeld to fill the void left by an effectively worthless Reichsbank supply. By mid-1923, the 100,000 Mark denomination — unthinkable just two years earlier — was already losing practical value faster than notes could be printed and distributed. Konrad Triltsch, a local press operating out of Aumühle, handled the run entirely within the city.

Löffler served as Oberbürgermeister at the time of signing, making him personally accountable for an emergency currency instrument that would be rendered obsolete within weeks of issue.
