备注

Ansbach issued this note during the hyperinflation of 1923, when municipal and regional authorities across Germany were legally permitted to issue emergency currency — Notgeld — to compensate for the Reich's inability to supply adequate means of payment. By mid-1923, 100,000 Mark was losing purchasing power within days of issue, forcing constant re-denomination.

The official stamp served as the primary authentication mechanism in lieu of more sophisticated security printing, a common expedient for locally produced Notgeld where speed of production outweighed concern for counterfeiting.
