Angola's kwanza reajustado was introduced in 1995 as a transitional currency, replacing the original kwanza at a rate of 1,000 to 1 — itself already a corrective measure against the hyperinflationary damage accumulated during decades of civil war. The reajustado was never intended to be permanent; it lasted only until 1999, when the kwanza reajustado was in turn replaced by a second kwanza at 1,000,000 to 1.

G&D's Munich plant produced the series, with a watermark as the sole security provision — a notably thin specification for a denomination this large, reflecting the practical constraints of a wartime economy still dependent on external printing contracts.
