Not a genuine emission of the Banco Central do Brasil, but a fantasy piece produced — somewhat paradoxically — by the Casa da Moeda do Brasil, the official state mint and security printer. The attribution of CMB as printer is not speculative; the institution has produced souvenir and commemorative material outside its mandate of legal tender, and this falls into that category.
No 100,000 cruzeiro note was ever issued. Brazil's cruzeiro was replaced by the cruzado in 1986 at a rate of 1,000 to 1, well before any denomination this large could have entered circulation.
