The upper portion carries the denomination legend in large Gothic blackletter type, below which the authorising text instructs the Girozentrale für Ost- und Westpreußen in Danzig to pay against this cheque to the Stadtsparkasse Zoppot or bearer. At left, the arms of Zoppot — a castle above a white seagull on a shield — appear as a typographic vignette, while at right a decorative cartouche encloses the numeral denomination '100 Millionen Mark'; two manuscript signatures appear in the centre field above the issuing authority line 'Der Magistrat', with a red circular official seal affixed at lower right. |
