| Obverse description | Letterpress-printed on pale grey-green paper, the note carries a repeating scroll and wave guilloche underprint border framing all four margins; the denomination '100 000 000 Mk.' is set in Gothic blackletter at upper right, with a sequential serial number prefixed 'Nr.' at upper left. The large central text in decorative Fraktur reads 'Gutschein über / Hundert Millionen Mark', followed by a redemption clause naming the Oberamtssparkassen branches at Waldsee (Zweigstelle Schussenried), Riedlingen (Zweigstelle Buchau), and Ravensburg, with validity to 31 December 1923. The place and date 'Schussenried, 25. September 1923' appear at lower left, accompanied at lower right by the issuer's circular official stamp and two manuscript authorisation signatures. |

Württemberg's state peat administration — a government body managing bog extraction — became an unlikely emergency currency issuer during the hyperinflation peak of 1923. Notgeld authority was extended broadly that year, and any institution with payroll obligations and access to a printer could qualify. The Vereinigte Buchdruckereien was a regional print cooperative serving the towns of Buchau, Schussenried, and Aulendorf, which explains the hyphenated credit line.
By the time a 100-million-mark denomination was necessary to pay peat workers, the Rentenmark introduction was already weeks away.
