Comments

The Sächsische Bank zu Dresden was one of four German private note-issuing banks still operating under imperial charter when hyperinflation collapsed the mark in 1923. This 100,000,000 Mark denomination — unthinkable even two years earlier — was already losing purchasing power between the time of printing and the moment it crossed a shop counter. The Reichsbank's own presses couldn't keep pace with demand, which is why regional institutions like the Sächsische Bank were permitted to flood their territories with emergency high-denomination issues.

The series was short-lived. Stabilization via the Rentenmark in November 1923 rendered the entire issue worthless within weeks of circulation.
