| 备注 |
Hibernia was one of the Ruhr's dominant coal mining conglomerates, and like most large industrial employers in 1923, it issued its own notgeld to pay workers when the Reichsbank could no longer supply enough physical currency to meet payroll. This note, denominated at 100 million Mark, dates from the hyperinflation peak — by late summer 1923, that figure would cover little more than a loaf of bread, if that.
The embossed seal was the company's primary anti-counterfeiting measure, cheap to apply and difficult to fake without the original die. Industrial notgeld of this type was typically redeemable only at company payroll windows or approved local merchants, which kept circulation tightly contained within Herne and surrounding colliery towns.
