| Description du revers | Printed in grey-green on a fine geometric guilloche underprint, the reverse carries a central rectangular vignette of the Chemnitz New Town Hall (Neues Rathaus) with its prominent clock tower, horse-drawn vehicles and pedestrians in the foreground rendered in a detailed line-engraved style. The city arms, surmounted by a double-headed eagle crest, appear as flanking vignettes at left and right. The denomination "Hundert Millionen Mark" is set in bold Gothic script at top, with "100 Millionen 100" in large numerals along the lower margin; the printer's imprint is given in small type at the lower left. |

Chemnitz printed its own emergency currency — Notgeld — through a local firm rather than routing requisitions through the Reichsdruckerei, which was itself overwhelmed in mid-1923. Pickenhahn & Sohn, a Chemnitz commercial printer, produced multiple denominations for the city council as hyperinflation forced municipalities across Germany to issue their own notes simply to meet weekly payrolls.
The embossed stamp served as the primary security measure — straightforward to apply, difficult to fake with ordinary commercial equipment. By August 1923, the 100,000,000 Mark denomination had become routine small change.
