By mid-1993, inflation in the Republika Srpska had become so severe that the National Bank was issuing denominations that would have been unimaginable eighteen months earlier. This 100,000,000 dinar note is one of the products of that spiral — a denomination necessitated entirely by hyperinflation rather than any rational monetary planning. The wartime entity shared both currency design infrastructure and the ZIN printing facility in Belgrade with the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, which was running its own parallel hyperinflationary collapse at the same time.
A watermark is the sole security feature — a concession to practical realities when notes become worthless faster than sophisticated security printing can be organized.
