Aversbeschreibung The obverse displays the Polish state eagle — a crowned, spread-winged white eagle facing right — rendered in bold relief at the centre of the field. To the left of the eagle's body appears the denomination numeral '10' and to the right the abbreviation 'ZŁ.', both in large characters. The circular legend 'RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA' (Republic of Poland) runs along the upper periphery. The date '1925' is inscribed in the lower exergual area beneath the eagle's talons, all within a fine beaded inner border.

Reversbeschreibung The reverse presents a high-relief double portrait of a Polish peasant couple — a man and a woman — shown in left-facing profile, their busts overlapping with the man's effigy placed prominently in the foreground. Both figures are rendered in a naturalistic, sculptural style evoking rural folk tradition. The portrait group is encircled by a richly detailed wreath composed of agricultural produce including grain ears, fruit, vegetables, and foliage, symbolising the fertility and agrarian character of the Polish countryside. The field is otherwise unlettered, with no legend or inscription on this side.

Zusätzliche Informationen

The 10 Złotych "Villagers" type was part of Poland's broader currency reform effort in the mid-1920s, as the newly reconstituted state worked to stabilize the złoty after catastrophic inflation had destroyed the marka. Trial strikes in silver at this weight and module were produced to evaluate design candidates and striking parameters before committing to full production runs — most were never released and exist today in tiny numbers, sometimes only in mint or national bank archives.

The 1925 issue date places this piece in the window between the Grabski monetary reform of 1924 and the political instability that preceded Piłsudski's May Coup of 1926.
