Głąbiński was a Galician economist and National Democrat politician whose career spanned the late Habsburg period through the interwar Second Polish Republic — he served as Minister of Trade in 1919 and later as a professor at Lwów University. He was deported to the Soviet Union in 1939 following the Soviet occupation of eastern Poland and died in a labor camp, almost certainly Starobielsk or its successor facility, in 1941. His rehabilitation in Polish public memory was a long time coming.
