The Legislative Sejm of 1919–1922 was the first parliament of reconstituted Poland following the 123-year partition that had erased the country from European maps entirely. It operated under extraordinary pressure — drafting a constitution, organizing a state apparatus from scratch, and legislating through an active war with Soviet Russia simultaneously. The March Constitution of 1921, one of its central achievements, drew heavily from the French Third Republic model and remained in force until the authoritarian revision of 1935.
