Additional information

Krzysztof Klenczon co-founded Czerwone Gitary in 1965, the group that effectively defined Polish beat music through the late 1960s. He left for the United States in 1973, where he died in a Chicago car accident in 1981 at 39 — largely forgotten by Western audiences but mourned in Poland as a generational loss. This coin is part of NBP's ongoing series honoring Polish musicians, issued under the authority of the National Bank of Poland as legal tender collector pieces with strictly limited mintage.
