| Additional information |
Świerczewski — known by his Spanish Civil War nom de guerre "General Walter" — was a Soviet-trained officer whose postwar mythology was constructed almost entirely by the Polish communist state. When he was killed in a likely UB-staged ambush near Jabłonki in March 1947, the regime had its martyr. This trial strike precedes the circulating issue by a year, produced as part of Mennica Polska's standard approval process before final dies were authorized for full production.
The nickel composition here differs from some parallel trials struck in cupro-nickel for comparison testing.
