This note was not issued for circulation. The 2008 Piłsudski 10 Złotych is a collector issue — one of a series of commemorative banknotes released by NBP honoring figures central to Polish independence, timed to the 90th anniversary of Poland regaining statehood in 1918. Piłsudski's role in that moment was unambiguous: he accepted the transfer of military command in Warsaw on November 11, 1918, the date now marked as Independence Day.
Kopecki both designed and engraved the note — relatively unusual for PWPW's commemorative output, where design and engraving duties are more often split between specialists.
