Additional information

Issued as part of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization coin program, which in the early 1970s persuaded central banks worldwide to mint circulating commemoratives carrying agricultural themes — with the dual aim of promoting food security awareness and generating hard currency through collector sales. Poland's participation reflected the governing PZPR's interest in projecting an image of socialist agricultural progress, particularly following the rural collectivization failures of the 1950s that Warsaw preferred to leave unexamined.
