Additional information

Poland issued commemorative 10-złotych pieces in 1969 marking the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Polish People's Republic — the state formally proclaimed in July 1944 under Soviet sponsorship following the Lublin Committee's consolidation of power. Trial strikes like this one exist because the Mennica Państwowa in Warsaw routinely produced pattern and proof strikings in alternative compositions before settling on final production specifications, a practice that generated a substantial body of officially documented but never-circulated material. The copper-nickel composition here was ultimately rejected in favor of the issued type.
