| Rückseitenbeschreibung | A large intaglio vignette of a silver denar coin issued during the reign of Mieszko I occupies the centre of the design, set against a multicolour guilloche background with repeating microtext and geometric underprint patterns. A small oval cartouche bearing a crown device appears to the left, while the denomination numeral 10 is printed in dark ink at lower left and the NBP monogram in teal at lower right. A legal tender inscription in Polish is set to the right of the coin vignette. |

The P#173 10 Zlotych (the "Zlotys" designation is an older anglicization; Polish usage shifted in catalog standards through the 1990s) belongs to the series introduced after the 1990–1995 redenomination, which replaced the hyperinflation-era złoty at a rate of 10,000 old to 1 new. That ratio meant this note's face value had been functionally worthless paper just years before — the redenomination was as much psychological as economic, an attempt to restore confidence in a currency that had lost five digits to inflation under late communism.
The security thread on this series is a simple embedded strip, reflecting the more modest specification budget of early post-transition Polish banknote procurement.
