Obverse description The obverse features the Polish state eagle — the crowned white eagle with wings displayed, rendered in a stylized socialist-era design — centered in the field. The eagle faces dexter with talons clasping a shield on its breast, and is depicted without the royal crown characteristic of pre-communist Polish coinage. The circular legend POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA (Polish People's Republic) runs along the upper periphery, with the mint mark (MW, for Mennica Warszawska) and the date flanking the base of the eagle at the lower field.
