China's Lunar Series coins have been issued annually since 1981, making the Tiger one of the most anticipated strikes in any twelve-year cycle given the animal's deep association with military valor and imperial authority in Chinese tradition. The 2022 issue marks the third full cycle of the modern silver lunar program.
Production of these coins is handled by the China Mint, which operates under direct authorization from the People's Bank — unlike many sovereign mints, it holds no independent statutory authority.
