| Beschrijving keerzijde | The copper-nickel center displays a highly stylized snake rendered in the traditional Chinese paper-cut folk art manner, its coiled body decorated with intricate floral rosette motifs and arranged in a figure-eight form occupying the majority of the field. The snake's head is raised and faces left, adorned with a small floral sprig. To the upper right, a traditional Chinese hanging lantern with tassels is depicted, accompanied by flowering and leafy botanical branches that extend into the brass outer ring. The Heavenly Stem character 乙 (yǐ) appears on the left side of the brass ring, with 巳 (sì), the Earthly Branch corresponding to the Snake, on the right, together forming 乙巳, the cyclical year designation for 2025 in the Chinese sexagenary calendar. |

China's lunar series bimetallic coinage has been issued annually since 2000, with each year's coin entering general circulation alongside commemorative collector versions in silver and gold. The 2025 Snake issue marks the second full cycle through the zodiac for the bimetallic format. Snake years in the Chinese calendar carry particular association with wisdom and financial acumen — a cultural resonance not lost on the People's Bank, which tends to see stronger hoarding rates for Snake-year issues than for most other zodiac strikes.
