| Obverse description | Central view of the Guanque Tower (鹳雀楼), a celebrated Chinese historic pavilion, rendered in fine detail with multi-tiered rooflines and surrounding stepped terraces. The legend 中华人民共和国 (People's Republic of China) arcs along the upper field in Chinese characters. The date 2001 appears in the lower field, with the inscription 鹳雀楼 identifying the building just above the exergue. The entire design is set within a scalloped planchet with eight lobed notches. |
