| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field depicts the Zhengyangmen Gate Tower (前門), a historic fortified gatehouse of Beijing, rendered in fine engraved detail with its characteristic double-eaved pagoda-style superstructure atop a massive crenellated stone platform, flanked by decorative balustrades and ornamental shrubbery at the base. The inscription 前門 (Qianmen) appears in the upper right field, while the Chinese characters 甲子 appear at the lower left, denoting the sexagenary cycle year. The legend 北京 1984 is inscribed along the lower exergue in Chinese characters and Arabic numerals. The entire design is framed by a fine beaded inner border. |
