Obverse description The national emblem of the People's Republic of China occupies the central field, depicting Tiananmen Gate surrounded by a wreath of grain ears tied with a ribbon, surmounted by a large five-pointed star flanked by four smaller stars. The emblem is rendered in high relief against a polished field and is framed by scrolling foliate ornaments that follow the scalloped contour of the flan. The legend 中华人民共和国 (People's Republic of China) arcs across the upper field in simplified Chinese characters, while the date 2024 appears in the lower exergue in Latin numerals.

Additional information

China's annual lunar silver issues have been produced without interruption since 1981, but the 2024 Dragon year carries particular commercial weight — the Dragon is the most coveted of the twelve zodiac animals among Chinese buyers, consistently driving mintages and premiums above neighboring years in the series. The People's Bank of China does not publicly disclose official mintage figures for most of these issues, which complicates secondary market pricing and fuels speculation.

KM#2814 is struck to the same .999 fineness standard the series adopted in the early 2000s, replacing the earlier .900 composition.
