| Descripción del anverso | Central field features a stylized dog rendered in an archaic Chinese decorative art style, depicted in profile with swirling spiral motifs adorning its body, evoking ancient bronze vessel ornamentation. The dog design is set against a smooth, polished inner field and surrounded by a raised decorative border composed of floral and foliate scroll patterns. The year of issue '2006' appears in the lower portion of the design, below the central motif. Chinese characters forming the coin's inscription appear along the upper border within the decorative frame. |

| Descripción del reverso | Two naturalistically rendered German Shepherd dogs are depicted in color against a polished silver field, one reclining in the foreground and the other seated upright beside it, with delicate bamboo foliage rendered in the upper left background. To the left of the central design, vertical Chinese characters identify the lunar year. The denomination '10元' appears in the lower right of the field in Arabic numerals and Chinese characters. The colorized finish gives a vivid, painterly quality to the canine subjects, contrasting with the brilliant proof finish of the surrounding silver field. |

| Información adicional |
China's lunar silver series underwent a significant compositional upgrade around this period, shifting to .999 fineness from the .900 standard used in earlier issues — a change driven partly by collector demand and partly by competition from other sovereign mints producing fine silver bullion-style commemoratives. The 2006 Dog issue falls within the first generation of issues at the higher purity.
Mintage for this type was controlled by the People's Bank of China, which has historically released lunar series coins in tranches through state-authorized distributors, making original issue prices in the secondary market difficult to reconstruct with precision.
