| 表面の説明 | A detailed view of the Great Wall of China winds dramatically across rugged mountainous terrain, rendered in high relief. A prominent watchtower commands the upper center of the composition, with the wall extending to both sides and receding into the distance. Trees and rocky landscape elements occupy the lower field. The legend 中华人民共和国 (People's Republic of China) arcs along the upper periphery in Chinese characters, with the date 1995 inscribed in the lower field. |

Part of the Chinese Historical Figures gold series, this issue honors Li Shimin, the second Tang emperor, whose reign from 626 to 649 AD is routinely cited by Chinese historians as the "Zhenguan Reign of Good Governance" — a benchmark against which subsequent dynasties measured competent rule. His path to the throne ran through the Xuanwu Gate Incident of 626, in which he ambushed and killed two of his brothers before compelling his father, Emperor Gaozu, to abdicate.
The People's Bank of China issued this in a mintage of 3,000 pieces.
