The venerable sage is shown in three-quarter view, seated upon a rocky outcrop, his flowing robes rendered with fine sculptural detail, one hand resting in contemplative repose. A landscape of trees and mountains recedes into the background, conveying depth and serenity consistent with Taoist aesthetic tradition.
