Additional information

Wu Song's inclusion in this series reflects his status as one of the most beloved figures in the 108-hero roster of Shuihu Zhuan — the 14th-century novel attributed to Shi Nai'an that the Chinese state has periodically mobilized as a symbol of righteous resistance. The People's Bank issued this coin as part of a multi-year colored silver program spanning the full cast of Liangshan heroes, a project whose ambition in scope was matched by the difficulty of completing a full set.

Wu Song is famously associated with the killing of a tiger on Jingyang Ridge, an episode that made him one of the story's earliest and most recognizable characters. Collectors pursuing the complete series face meaningful secondary-market attrition — individual characters were not issued in equal mintages.
