| Obverse description | The obverse features the national emblem of the People's Republic of China at center, depicting Tiananmen Gate surmounted by five stars, encircled by ears of grain and a cogwheel, all rendered in high relief against a mirror-like field. The emblem is framed by an ornate decorative border of traditional Chinese geometric and floral motifs in a raised ring pattern. The inscription '中华人民共和国' (People's Republic of China) arcs along the upper periphery in Chinese characters, while the date '2010' appears in Arabic numerals at the lower portion of the field. |

Wu Song's inclusion in this series reflects his status as one of the most beloved figures in the 108-hero roster of Shuihu Zhuan — the 14th-century novel attributed to Shi Nai'an that the Chinese state has periodically mobilized as a symbol of righteous resistance. The People's Bank issued this coin as part of a multi-year colored silver program spanning the full cast of Liangshan heroes, a project whose ambition in scope was matched by the difficulty of completing a full set.
Wu Song is famously associated with the killing of a tiger on Jingyang Ridge, an episode that made him one of the story's earliest and most recognizable characters. Collectors pursuing the complete series face meaningful secondary-market attrition — individual characters were not issued in equal mintages.
