Reverse description Dynamic high-relief depiction of Gesar (格萨尔王), the legendary warrior-king of Tibet, shown mounted on a rearing horse and clad in elaborate traditional Tibetan armour, holding a spear aloft with billowing cape behind him. Stylised cloud scrollwork fills the upper field in a manner reminiscent of traditional Tibetan thangka painting. A horizontal register in the lower portion of the field features a frieze of smaller figures in animated procession, evoking scenes from the Tibetan epic tradition. The denomination 10元 appears to the right, while the legend 岭·格萨尔王(藏族) / 公元11世纪 is inscribed along the lower rim, identifying the subject as Gesar, King of the Tibetan people, 11th century CE.
