Reverse description A half-length draped figure of the ancient Greek poet Homer is portrayed in the centre of the field, facing slightly left, holding a lyre in his hands with finely engraved drapery falling in classical folds. Flanking Homer in the background are two groups of armoured warriors in combat, rendered in lower relief and evoking scenes from his epic poems. The bilingual legend 荷马 HOMER arcs along the upper left, accompanied by the dates 900–800 BC at upper right. The denomination 10 元 appears prominently at the upper right of the field.
