Obverse description Central device depicts a multi-tiered traditional Chinese pavilion (resembling the Yellow Crane Tower) rendered in fine detail, set against a stylized landscape with clouds and water in the background. The Chinese legend 中华人民共和国 (People's Republic of China) arcs along the upper periphery of the coin. The date 2002 appears in the lower exergue beneath the architectural motif. The overall design is executed in a refined engraving style characteristic of Chinese commemorative coinage.
