The 2019 10 Yuan belongs to the fifth series of Renminbi, which has been progressively updated since the 1990s with new denominations slotted in at irregular intervals. This particular note was issued specifically to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China — it is not a standard circulation replacement but a commemorative issue, which matters for collectors distinguishing it from the workhorse 10 Yuan notes of the same series.
The "W" prefix in the Pick reference reflects its commemorative status. CBPMC produced the note in Beijing, as with all PRC currency.
